Causes of Birth Injuries!
I am sure that infant injury and birth injury are such grave trauma and gut wrenching event and occasions that most of the parents would never even want to think of, forget about going through it or experiencing it.
Birth injury or infant injury also sometimes know as pediatric injury is the damage and the loss that is sustained during the delivery process of the mother and this is especially while delivering a difficult child.
This birth injury or infant injury usually occurs during transit that takes place during through the birth canal because of the forces such as compression and traction and also sometimes because of the blood flow or the oxygen intake that does not reach according to its proper requirements.
But this is the fact, every year almost six to eight birth injuries take place in the U.S. and this is in ratio to 1000 innocent infants that die every year. And to be more surprising this is even more in the state of Philadelphia as most of the common birth injuries are reported for that state and this state has more than half of the birth injuries that are taking place in America.
Common birth injuries would usually include caput succedaneum, brain injury, cerebral palsy and other such issues that would include cephalohematoma.
A difficult birth or a complex delivery would increase the risk of this birth injury along with the risk of injury to the fetus if the birth canal is too small or narrow. Now this can be also attributed because sometimes the mother may be having diabetes even her delivery.
So infant injury or birth injury is more likely to affect the child even when everything seems to be perfect, but the child is lying in an abnormal position before being delivered. But thanks to modern science and technology as there have been many studies and observations that point out that there have been a less birth injuries since the past few years as compared to the previous decade.
The most common causes of the birth injury is because the baby may be lying in an abnormal position, or the baby is very large and heavy thereby adding to his problems while delivery. Then there are other such reasons such as abnormal birthing style where the legs and the buttocks come out instead of the head coming out first. Prolong labor pain is another cause that can take away the Child’s happiness.
